TRNC Annual Inflation Hits 40.22% in February 2026

According to the TRNC Statistics Authority, consumer prices in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus rose 2.76% month-on-month and 40.22% year-on-year in February 2026. The Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages group recorded the highest price increase.

The Statistics Authority reported that, based on the 2015=100 Consumer Price Index, prices increased 2.76% compared to the previous month, 4.79% compared to December 2025, and 40.22% compared to February 2025.

By main expenditure group, month-on-month increases were highest in Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (6.06%), followed by Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels (5.31%), Miscellaneous Goods and Services (4.64%), Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco (4.44%), Furniture, Household Appliances and Maintenance (4.22%), Health (2.14%), Transport (1.29%), Recreation and Culture (1.11%), Restaurants and Hotels (1.08%), Communication (0.96%), and Education (0.31%). Clothing and Footwear saw a 4.44% decline.

Of the 486 items in the index, 136 recorded price decreases, while the rest increased.

The largest monthly price increases were for Cucumbers (100.40%), Water Bills (Municipality) (34.31%), and Prepaid Mobile Call Charges (33.85%). The largest decreases were observed in Arugula (35.42%), Lettuce (23.16%), and White Cabbage (19.27%).
