KTAMS: Four-Person Family Needs 38,314 TL, Poverty Line 206,656 TL
The Cyprus Turkish Public Servants’ Union (KTAMS) has reported that as of 28 February 2026, a four-person family in the TRNC needs 38,314 TL to cover basic food costs, while the poverty threshold stands at 206,656 TL.
Using average food prices from the TRNC State Statistics Office and nutritional standards from the TRNC Ministry of Health – Inpatient Treatment Institutions Department, the report calculated the monthly cost of a healthy diet:

Adult woman: 328.70 TL/day → 9,861 TL/month

Adult man: 344.55 TL/day → 10,336.50 TL/month

Teen (15–19 years): 364.46 TL/day → 10,933.80 TL/month

Child (4–6 years): 239.42 TL/day → 7,182.60 TL/month
The findings highlight the growing cost of living and the gap between basic subsistence and poverty levels in the TRNC.
