In their joint statement, the NGOs emphasized that young people can play a key role in fostering trust, dialogue, and cooperation between the two communities. They called for the Two-Community Youth Technical Committee to have a more inclusive representation and for its activities to effectively and sustainably address youth needs.

During the meeting, a group of representatives shared their proposals with President Erhürman, expressing confidence that the joint text would contribute to enhanced youth dialogue and establish lasting cooperation mechanisms between the communities.

The “Student Package” submitted to the President highlighted issues directly affecting students’ daily lives. Key points included the phone registration fee problem for Turkish Cypriot students studying in Turkey, restrictions on Dental Specialty Exams and quotas, and the need to digitize military service deferment procedures. The NGOs stressed that concrete actions in these areas would directly improve students’ living conditions.

The eight organizations signing the joint statement were: Bağımsız Gençlik Derneği (BAGEP), Dijital Kültür Derneği, Genç GİKAD, Green Hub Sustainable Living Community, HASDER Youth Club, Cyprus Turkish Young Doctors Association, Cyprus Turkish Student Organization (KTOG), and Famagusta Youth Center Association.
