Three-Day Ramadan Feast Begins Friday in Northern Cyprus
The three-day Ramadan Feast, also known as Şeker Bayramı, will begin this Friday, with the Bayram prayer scheduled for 6:32 a.m.
During the three-day celebration, residents will exchange greetings with family and loved ones, visit the graves of deceased relatives, and pay respects at martyrs’ cemeteries. Traditional sweets, a hallmark of the holiday, are expected to bring the most joy to children. A festive Bayram area will also be set up at the Nicosia Fairgrounds.
Government and state officials will join the public in holiday greetings. President Tufan Erhürman and his wife, Nilden Bektaş Erhürman, will receive well-wishers at the Presidential Palace at 10:00 a.m. on the first day of Bayram. Meanwhile, UBP Leader and Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and his wife, Zerrin Üstel, will meet with citizens at 10:30 a.m. at Lefkoşa’s Elysium Park.
This year, the Bayram holiday coincides with the weekend, limiting the official break to three days. Government offices and municipalities will resume work on Monday, March 23.
Public services will remain operational throughout the holiday. Police will be on duty 24/7, and residents can reach emergency services without interruption via the following numbers: 155 (Police), 156 (Narcotics), and 199 (Fire Department).
