Fidias Panayiotou Elected President Of Direct Democracy
Fidias Panayiotou was elected president of Direct Democracy on Saturday after defeating seven other party candidates in an online vote.
Around 7,000 people participated in the vote, party founder Panayiotou said.
The results were:
Fidias Panayiotou (Nicosia candidate) – 4,006 votes
Diana Constantinides (Famagusta candidate) – 1,923 votes
Minas Giorkas (Nicosia candidate) – 465 votes
Andreas Varosiotis (Famagusta candidate) – 259 votes
Andreas Pigkas (Nicosia candidate) – 176 votes
Stefanos Christodoulou (Larnaca candidate) – 125 votes
Tasos Anastasiou (Famagusta candidate) – 105 votes
Following the announcement of the result, Panayiotou said party presidential elections will be held approximately every 2.5 years.
The vote followed the selection of Direct Democracy’s 56 candidates for the upcoming parliamentary elections a few days ago.
Around 16,000 people voted through the Agora app to select the candidates.
