Akpınar: Nothing Will Change Under Current Approach; I Will Not Run Again For Parliament
Democratic Party (DP) Secretary-General Serhat Akpınar has criticized the current governance approach, saying that no meaningful change can be achieved under existing conditions, and announced that he will not run again as a parliamentary candidate.
Speaking on a television program, Akpınar said the DP has often been left uninformed about key government decisions, adding that even party leader and Tourism Minister Fikri Ataoğlu is uncomfortable with the situation.
He argued that the party has been labeled as “incompatible” for opposing what it sees as negative developments within the government. “Some authorities, including Prime Minister Ünal Üstel, are reporting us to Turkey,” Akpınar claimed.
Akpınar reiterated that there has been insufficient consultation among coalition partners, noting that several significant policy decisions were brought forward without informing the Democratic Party. He also criticized what he described as the party’s exclusion from key decision-making processes within the government.
