7.5-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Off Tonga
A magnitude 7.5 earthquake struck off the Pacific island nation of Tonga, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The quake was recorded approximately 153 kilometres west of the town of Neiafu, USGS reported. It occurred at a depth of 229.5 kilometres below the surface.
Following the earthquake, no tsunami warning was issued. There have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage linked to the tremor.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation, but no further impacts have been confirmed at this stage.
