Speaking on a Kıbrıs Postası TV programme, Çeler said growing political fatigue and declining trust in the current government have strengthened public demand for change. He noted that TDP is entering the election period with renewed energy and unity.

Highlighting the party’s internal process, Çeler described the congress period as democratic, conflict-free and strengthening for the organisation. He said all district congresses were completed smoothly and that the upcoming party congress on Sunday will renew the party assembly, demonstrating TDP’s readiness for a new political phase.

Çeler also underlined that TDP has evolved into a more inclusive and solution-oriented political force. He acknowledged that in the past the party had been perceived as distant from the private sector, but said this perception has changed, with TDP now focusing on policies such as protecting local labour, supporting national capital and ensuring a fair taxation system.

He argued that public frustration with politics has deepened, with many people believing nothing will change. However, he said the current government has created significant disappointment, further reinforcing the desire for political transformation. According to Çeler, this growing dissatisfaction could translate into a strong shift at the ballot box and increase expectations for a new left-wing coalition.

On potential alliances, Çeler said cooperation with the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) remains a possibility, but cautioned that such partnerships must be approached carefully. He warned that reforms, particularly to the constitution and election law, should be evaluated cautiously, noting that certain changes could push the country toward a two-party system.

Addressing ongoing debates over legal amendments, Çeler stressed that no regulation should restrict press freedom. While acknowledging issues such as defamation and misinformation, he said laws that could silence journalists or create pressure on investigative reporting would be unacceptable and undermine democratic principles.

He also pointed to TDP’s preparations in digital transformation, stating that the party is working with experienced teams to advance society’s understanding and use of digital tools.

Çeler concluded by emphasising that TDP acts responsibly both in government and in opposition, adding that the party will continue its political struggle with the same sense of seriousness and commitment.
