Armed Chase in South Cyprus Ends with Arrest of Two in TRNC-Plated Vehicle
A pre-dawn police chase in Nicosia, South Cyprus, ended with the arrest of two individuals in a TRNC-plated vehicle after authorities discovered a large quantity of untaxed tobacco products.
According to initial police reports, around 03:45, an MMAD patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle in the Lympia area. When officers signaled the driver to stop, the vehicle accelerated, prompting a prolonged pursuit.
During the chase, the suspect vehicle collided with police cars, leading officers to fire warning shots to bring it under control. Once stopped, authorities found a significant amount of untaxed tobacco inside the vehicle.
The two occupants of the TRNC-plated car were taken into custody and are being questioned at a Nicosia Police Department unit. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
