Üstel stressed that relations between Turkey and the TRNC are rooted in a deep братhood shaped by shared history, destiny and trust. He described Turkey not only as a financial supporter but also as the strongest guarantor of the TRNC’s security and existence.

On the Cyprus issue, Üstel reiterated that a lasting solution is not possible without sovereign equality and equal international status, stating: “The name of the solution is clear: a two-state solution.”

He noted that the agreement, initially valued at around 23 billion TL, is expected to reach approximately 25 billion TL with additional contributions throughout the year. The protocol includes structural reforms aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and improving public administration.

Üstel said the government has been the most productive in recent years in terms of delivering and completing projects, adding that it is acting with stability, determination and courage. “The essence of our politics is not words, but action and results,” he said.

Touching on regional developments, Üstel warned that rising geopolitical tensions and military activity in the eastern Mediterranean have increased security risks, arguing that stability in the TRNC is ensured by Turkey’s presence on the island. He added that guarantees will not be abandoned under any circumstances.

Referring to recent diplomatic engagements, Üstel described participation in a meeting of the Organization of Turkic States in Baku alongside Cevdet Yılmaz as a “historic step,” noting it marked the first time a TRNC prime minister represented the state with its own identity at an international platform outside Turkey.

He also underlined the importance of preparing the TRNC for global integration by strengthening investments, technology, public finances and the real sector.

According to Üstel, the 2026 agreement outlines a comprehensive development vision focused on boosting production, supporting growth and delivering long-term, low-interest financing to sectors including tourism, construction, industry, SMEs and agriculture.

He said 2026 will be the year when major projects are completed and opened, including hospitals, roads and schools, adding that the government aims to deliver tangible benefits to citizens.

On early elections, Üstel said they will be held “when the time comes,” noting that the decision lies with the political will in parliament.

He concluded by stating that the government’s priority is to protect the public against global economic shocks while advancing projects and economic production, adding: “Our goal is to build a stronger economy, a more prosperous society and a safer future.”
