Sıla Usar: A Corrupt, Irregular and Fraudulent Government
Sıla Usar İncirli, leader of the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), said laws being imposed by what she described as a “corrupt, irregular, fraudulent and deceitful government” have sparked widespread public anger, stressing that the public deserves better governance.
In a statement on ongoing general strikes and protests, İncirli said recent developments demonstrate how a government attempting to rule without listening to the public, ignoring stakeholders and undermining compromise can deepen tensions.
She accused the government of trying to push through legislation aimed at cutting public sector wages to offset a growing budget deficit, warning that such measures would significantly reduce purchasing power and further deepen economic stagnation.
İncirli said the imposition of these laws has triggered strong public reaction, adding that citizens have faced pressure and violence during the process, while protesters have been targeted and police officers placed at the centre of political tensions.
She argued that civil society has made its voice heard and that the struggle has not been in vain, stressing that the CTP will continue to stand firmly with the public. “Imposition has hit a wall,” she said.
İncirli also accused the government led by Ünal Üstel of deliberately creating chaos, describing it as too weak to govern without relying on crisis.
“Change is now inevitable,” she said, calling for a new and inclusive political approach. “The time has come for governance based on justice, trust and knowledge, not chaos. Those responsible for this situation will not escape political and moral accountability. The ballot box will be set up, and the change the public longs for will begin.”
