Erhürman Condemns Burning Of TRNC And Turkey Flags In The South
President Tufan Erhürman has reacted to the burning of Turkish and TRNC flags in Southern Cyprus, saying: “I strongly condemn this provocation and the mindset of those who carried it out.”
In a written statement, Erhürman responded to an incident in which a group burned the flag of the Republic of Turkey and the flag of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during religious holiday celebrations.
He said: “In the South, a group of irresponsible individuals burned the flags of the Republic of Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, even during religious holiday celebrations.
“Burning flags does not take anything away from the flags or their owners. However, this absurd ‘action’ represents a clear loss of civilisation for those who carried it out.
“Such repeated examples of uncivilised behaviour, mentality and provocations should be a matter of concern and condemnation for the Greek Cypriot leadership rather than for us.
“I strongly condemn this provocation and the mindset of those who carried it out.”
