Regulator Says It Cannot Intervene In Social Media Platforms
Information Technologies and Communication Authority Vice Chairman Tayfun Aydınlı said the institution cannot intervene in social media platforms, adding that recent actions targeting journalists’ accounts were not technically cyberattacks.
Speaking to BRT, Aydınlı said the incidents involving some media organizations and journalists’ social media accounts occurred within the platforms’ own internal mechanisms rather than through external cyberattacks.
He stressed that it is not possible for the authority to directly intervene in the operations of these platforms.
Aydınlı also noted that BTHK Chairman Kadri Bürüncük is currently holding contacts in Turkey regarding the issue.
