Widespread Water Cuts Expected In Famagusta And Iskele
Water supply interruptions are expected in parts of Famagusta and Iskele between 20 April and 5 May due to maintenance works under the Turkey–TRNC Water Supply Project.
Authorities said the disruptions will be caused by pump replacements at the Dipkarpaz transfer centre and flow meter changes at the Kumyalı water reservoir. Officials also warned that a wide network of settlements will be affected during the works.
Among the affected areas are Yeniceköy, Geçitkale, Akova, Famagusta, Sınırüstü, Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU), Çayırova, Yarköy, Boğaztepe, Ardahan, Kumyalı, Yeşilköy, Yenierenköy 1 and 2, Derince and Dipkarpaz, along with all settlements supplied from these reservoirs.
In parallel with the project, additional connection works will be carried out on key transmission lines, including links between storage facilities and main pipelines in the Iskele–Dipkarpaz system. These works include road crossings, pipeline connections and infrastructure installations at multiple reservoir sites.
Officials said local drinking water sources will be used temporarily during the maintenance period. Residents were urged to use water carefully and avoid waste until the works are completed.
