Statistics Department to Launch 2026–2027 Household Budget Survey
The Statistical Institute will carry out the 2026–2027 Household Budget Survey between 1 May 2026 and 30 April 2027, collecting data on household consumption expenditures and income through visits to selected sample households.
According to information provided by the Institute, the study is conducted periodically in order to identify changes in the country’s economic and social structure, determine official statistical needs, and produce reliable data to guide public policy.
The upcoming field study aims to determine changes over time in household consumption patterns and spending habits, while also updating the consumption structure used as the basis for the Consumer Price Index (CPI). The survey will also collect data on income levels and current socio-economic characteristics of households.
The Institute noted that the updated findings will contribute to improving inflation measurements and ensuring that price indices better reflect real consumption behaviour.
Prior to the fieldwork, enumerators assigned to the survey will receive a four-day training programme starting today. The training, delivered by Institute staff together with experts from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), will cover survey methodology, data collection procedures and fieldwork principles.
The opening of the training session was held at the Sayıştay Presidency Hayati Güven Meeting Hall and was delivered by Statistical Institute Director Sövüda Besimler.
