TRNC Flag in Erhürman–DiCarlo Meeting Triggers Reaction from Greek Cypriot Side
The presence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) flag during President Tufan Erhürman’s meeting with UN Under-Secretary-General Rosemary A. DiCarlo at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum has prompted a reaction from the Greek Cypriot side.
The meeting, held within the framework of the forum, reportedly drew “strong objections” from the Greek Cypriot administration, according to Fileleftheros. The report claimed that the display of the TRNC flag violated UN resolutions, adding that formal representations were made to UN offices in New York and Cyprus.
It was also reported that the Greek Cypriot government expressed its dissatisfaction through official protests, describing the development as “unacceptable actions that breach UN decisions.”
The newspaper further noted that Greek Cypriot political parties DIKO and DIPA also voiced criticism over the issue.
