HP Bill Withdrawn Unanimously to Committee
The General Assembly of the Assembly unanimously approved the withdrawal of the cost of living (HP) regulation back to committee following debates in parliament.
After speeches by Prime Minister Ünal Üstel and CTP leader Sıla Usar İncirli, the decision was adopted unanimously, and the parliamentary sitting was concluded at 14:30.
The move comes after tensions surrounding the cost of living adjustment, with the government deciding to re-evaluate the draft in committee and resubmit it to the General Assembly through a consensus-based process.
Trade unions said their demands were met following negotiations, while further talks are expected to continue in the next phase of the process.
Previously, Transport and Public Works Minister Erhan Arıklı had stated that the government had sufficient numbers to pass the bill and that it would be adopted under any circumstances, while also noting that efforts for consensus were ongoing within the framework of salary payments and fiscal needs.
