Erhürman: Our Commitment to a Solution, Gradual Approach and Methodology Are Understood by Everyone
President Tufan Erhürman said feedback received from citizens following the Antalya Diplomacy Forum showed that his commitment to a Cyprus solution, his gradual approach and the methodology being followed are clearly understood by the public.
In a social media post after the forum, Erhürman said both praise and criticism from citizens were valuable and stressed that people should feel free to express their views to the Presidency without pressure or concern.
He said a more detailed assessment of the meetings held during the forum would be made later, but for now wanted to offer an initial reflection on the public response.
“As President, it is a great source of happiness and pride for me that citizens can freely convey not only their congratulations but also their criticism to the Presidency without feeling any pressure or concern,” he said.
Erhürman added that his role was not to judge people’s tone, but to understand the content of their criticism, the expectations behind it and its broader social and cultural background.
“We are continuing on the same line as we stated before the election. Our commitment to a solution, our gradual approach and our methodology are understood by everyone,” he said.
Recalling principles he had repeatedly underlined before the election, Erhürman said patience, calmness, seriousness and determination had already moved the process significantly forward.
“I see and know that these principles have taken us much further than the point where we started around six months ago,” he said, adding that the process would continue with even greater momentum.
