İncirli: We Will Continue to Defend a Cyprus Settlement
CTP leader Sıla Usar İncirli said Turkish Cypriots will continue to present their commitment to a fair and lasting settlement in Cyprus at every international platform, stressing the importance of diplomacy and regional cooperation in addressing deepening global crises.
In her assessment of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, İncirli said the event took place amid major global and regional conflicts, including Israel’s attacks on Gaza and Iran, the Russia-Ukraine war, tensions in Lebanon, developments in Syria and instability across Africa.
She noted that the forum brought together 6,400 participants from 150 countries and 66 international organisations, making it a significant diplomatic platform for discussing critical international issues.
İncirli said the strong interest shown in President Tufan Erhürman’s speech demonstrated the high level of international attention given to the Cyprus issue and showed that the process continues to be closely followed and taken seriously.
She said lasting peace in a world facing deepening crises can only be built through preventive diplomacy, stronger regional cooperation, openness to compromise and a preference for dialogue over conflict.
According to İncirli, resolving regional crises requires the active, sincere and constructive participation of regional actors and respect for the internal dynamics of each geography.
High-Level Contacts at the Forum
She also outlined a series of high-level bilateral meetings held by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) during the forum.
These included meetings with United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political and Peacebuilding Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo, TURKPA Secretary-General Ramil Hasan, Chair of the European Parliament’s Committee on Legal Affairs Ilhan Kyuchyuk, and Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Ayşe Berris Ekinci.
İncirli said the meetings were highly productive and focused on Cyprus, regional developments and international engagement.
‘We Will Continue to Explain Our Will for a Settlement’
“As Turkish Cypriots, we have demonstrated our will for a solution many times,” she said.
“We will continue to explain on every platform that we want to integrate with the world through a fair and lasting settlement based on international law and political equality, and that we do not accept being ignored or excluded.”
She also thanked Turkey’s Foreign Ministry for successfully organising the Antalya Diplomacy Forum and for the broad international participation and invitations extended to participants.
