Many Professions To Be Required To Use Cash Registers
According to Kanal T, the Ministry of Finance will introduce a requirement for a wide range of professions to use new-generation POS-enabled cash registers starting from 1 May 2026.
Under the updated list of “those exempt from using payment recording devices,” doctors, dentists, medical laboratories, dental technicians and prosthetists will no longer be exempt. As a result, these professions will be required to use new-generation cash registers with POS functionality.
The regulation also extends to several service sectors. It includes electrical, water and similar installation services, vehicle maintenance and repair services for both motorised and non-motorised vehicles, travel agencies, mobile sales carried out through market tracking, independent barbers and hairdressers, private clinics and hospitals, as well as restaurant services.
The measure will be implemented under the relevant provisions of the Value Added Tax Law and is set to come into force on 1 May.
