Following the incident, which resulted in the death of a worker at a construction site still under construction in Dörtyol, inspections were carried out in the area and officials made on-site assessments.

During occupational safety inspections, the construction site was found not to be in compliance with regulations and was subsequently sealed. An official investigation into the incident was also launched.

Hasipoğlu visited the site of the accident and made the following statement:

“Following the inspection carried out with the Director of the Labour Department and inspection teams present, the construction site was found not to comply with occupational safety standards. It was sealed and an investigation was initiated.

As part of the police investigation launched following the fatal accident, contact will be maintained with the police and all relevant documents and information regarding workplace safety will be shared.

We will not tolerate workplaces that fail to ensure occupational safety or employ undocumented workers. The Labour Department, with 13 labour inspectors and 9 inspection personnel, carried out a total of 4,542 inspections across the country throughout 2025.

In January and February 2026 alone, inspectors under the Labour Department conducted a total of 736 inspections. Alongside investigations into workplace accidents, complaints regarding employee rights under labour law, and inspections targeting unregistered employment, employers were issued a total of 11 million 939 thousand 433 TL in administrative fines.

Our inspections will continue with the same determination and uncompromising approach throughout 2026. No tolerance will be shown for practices that violate legislation, and we will use our legal authority decisively to protect workers’ rights.”
