The case of Fatma Ünal, who is being tried without detention in the “fake diploma” investigation, has been adjourned for plea hearing to Wednesday, June 10.

Ünal appeared again before the Nicosia High Criminal Court today as part of the investigation launched at the Cyprus Health and Social Sciences University (KSTU) into alleged fake diplomas.

The hearing was held before a panel of the Nicosia High Criminal Court, with Senior Prosecutor Mustafa Ildeniz appearing on behalf of the Attorney General’s Office and defence lawyer Doğa Zeki representing the defendant.

Defence lawyer Doğa Zeki told the court that they required submitted exhibits, the indictment, and witness statements related to the case.

Zeki also stated that he had learned a new case was expected to be filed against his client.

The prosecution said the requested documents would be provided to the defence.

At the initial inquiry hearing at the Güzelyurt District Court, 41 exhibits were submitted and five witnesses were heard.

Ünal has been charged on a total of 16 counts, including “Forgery of Official Documents,” “Circulation of Forged Official Documents,” “Instigation to Forge Official Documents,” and “Unauthorized Issuance of Documents.”
