Erhürman said the report expresses concern over obstacles faced by Turkish Cypriots born from mixed marriages regarding citizenship rights, noting that it recommends the Greek Cypriot leadership remove these barriers in a non-discriminatory manner.

He also recalled that similar findings were included in a report prepared a few months earlier by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, stressing that the issue has been reflected in international reporting.

Erhürman stated that problems regarding European Union citizenship rights for children born from mixed marriages persist.

“Although there have been some partial openings, the issues concerning our children’s EU citizenship rights continue,” he said.

He added that such practices are unacceptable from a human rights perspective, stating: “We continue, and will continue, to raise this issue on every platform for the removal of these practices.”
