According to reports in Greek Cypriot media, customs officials discovered the money during a routine inspection of a vehicle driven by a 49-year-old woman, with her 50-year-old husband as a passenger.

The cash was reportedly found divided into around 50 separate envelopes and included euros, British pounds, US dollars and Turkish lira.

Authorities said the total amount seized included €169,950, £11,275 and 435,605 Turkish lira, with the combined value exceeding €208,000.

Officials confiscated the money for further investigation into its origin after the couple allegedly failed to provide a convincing explanation.
