In a written statement, Üstel said the TRNC’s representation at presidential level despite all attempts to block it reflects the success of the government’s “active, determined and visionary” foreign policy pursued over the past four years with the strong support of Türkiye.

He also said the development demonstrates the sincere approach of “brotherly states” towards the TRNC.

Üstel stressed that efforts would continue with determination, adding that the government aims to create new opportunities for all segments of society with the support of friendly countries.

Recalling President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s remarks that the TRNC is an integral part of the Turkic world, Üstel said strengthening political, economic, cultural and social ties with Turkic states would contribute not only to the Turkic world but also to regional peace, stability and prosperity.

He said the TRNC “cannot be ignored or excluded,” describing it as a state with a strategic location, strong institutions and economic potential.

Üstel also described the TRNC as an “inseparable part of the Blue Homeland,” adding that cooperation with Türkiye reflects a shared vision based on protecting maritime rights, ensuring fair regional cooperation and maintaining stability.

He argued that increasing visibility of the TRNC within the Organization of Turkic States serves the interests of the entire Turkic world.

Warning against regional alliances he described as targeting Türkiye and the Eastern Mediterranean, Üstel said such efforts would ultimately fail.

On the Cyprus issue, Üstel reiterated the government’s position that a “just and realistic solution” is only possible through recognition of the TRNC’s sovereign equality and equal international status, based on a two-state framework.

He said the government favours cooperation rather than confrontation and stressed that no compromise would be made on sovereignty, maritime rights or political status.

Üstel added that the government would continue to strengthen ties with Turkic states in close coordination with Türkiye, ensuring that TRNC institutions remain active across all OTS platforms.

He also thanked the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan for their support during the summit.
