In a statement, the ministry said recent claims circulating in public had suggested that a tax amnesty law was being prepared, but stressed that these assertions are not true.
It noted that such rumours were leading some taxpayers to delay fulfilling their current obligations in anticipation of a possible future amnesty.
The ministry warned that this could result in citizens facing additional financial burdens such as interest charges and late payment penalties.
Reiterating its position, the ministry said there is no preparation or plan for a tax debt amnesty and urged taxpayers to meet their obligations on time under existing laws.
