Christodoulides Heads To Kazakhstan For Historic First Official Visit
Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides will pay an official visit to Kazakhstan on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, accompanied by cabinet members and a business delegation, the Deputy Government Spokesperson announced.
This marks the first official visit by a President of the Republic of Cyprus to Kazakhstan. During the trip, Christodoulides will meet with his Kazakh counterpart, address the Cyprus–Kazakhstan Business Forum, and officially inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana.
On Wednesday morning, June 3, the President of the Republic will hold a private meeting with the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, followed by expanded bilateral talks between the delegations of both states.
Following the expanded deliberations, the President of Kazakhstan will honor the President of the Republic of Cyprus with the “Order of Friendship” state decoration.
In the presence of both leaders, several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) will be signed covering Higher Education and Research, Culture, Sports, Information and Communications Technologies (ICT), Cybersecurity, and E-Governance. A separate MoU will also be signed between the Chambers of Commerce of Cyprus and Kazakhstan.
The two leaders will subsequently issue statements to the media, followed by an official luncheon hosted by President Tokayev in honor of President Christodoulides.
On Wednesday afternoon, the President of the Republic will address the opening of the Cyprus–Kazakhstan Business Forum at the Astana International Financial Centre. Following the forum, President Christodoulides will tour the Alem A.I. International Artificial Intelligence Center.
Later in the day, the President of the Republic will officially inaugurate the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Astana, alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Yermek Kosherbayev.
President Christodoulides will be accompanied to Astana by Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos; Minister of Energy, Commerce, and Industry George Papanastasiou; Deputy Minister to the President Irini Piki; Deputy Minister of Research, Innovation, and Digital Policy Nicodemos Damianou; the Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office, Doros Venezis; the Deputy Government Spokesperson; and other state officials.
