In a message issued on the occasion of 1 June World Children’s Day, Hasipoğlu said not every child starts life under equal conditions, adding that supporting disadvantaged children and providing them with the protection they need is regarded as one of the Ministry’s most important responsibilities.

He said that children under state protection are being cared for in the “Sevgi Evleri” (Houses of Love) affiliated with the Ministry, with efforts continuing to ensure they grow up as individuals who feel safe and secure.

Hasipoğlu noted that under foster care services, 31 children are currently living with 21 foster families.

He added that support services for disadvantaged children, persons with disabilities and their families have been strengthened at the Child and Family Support Centre (ÇADEM), which was opened in Lefkoşa Surlariçi in December.

He also stated that in 2025, two new daycare centres were licensed by the Social Services Department, while 58 existing daycare centres and nurseries were inspected approximately 600 times.

Hasipoğlu said that efforts also focus on reintegrating children into society and helping them realise their potential, noting that 15 children and young people have been placed under supervision programmes for reintegration through education and guidance.

Rehabilitation protocol signed for children in conflict with the law

Hasipoğlu also highlighted the signing of a cooperation protocol titled “Rehabilitation and Post-Release Social Reintegration Project for Children in Conflict with the Law and Young Adults,” between the Ministry of Labour and Social Security, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of National Education, and the Cyprus Turkish Chamber of Craftsmen and Tradesmen.

He said the project aims to support the cognitive, social and emotional development of children and young people, and to facilitate their reintegration into society and working life through vocational training opportunities.

Referring to risks children face in digital environments, Hasipoğlu said work continues with families, the education sector and relevant institutions to promote safe digital use, conscious technology practices and protection from harmful content.

Stressing that children are the most valuable asset of the future and the hope of society, Hasipoğlu said:

“We believe no child should be left to fate and no young person should lose hope. Every child needs love, support and a second chance. Strong societies are built on those that protect children’s rights, listen to them and prepare them for the future. On this occasion, I extend my wishes for a happy 1 June World Children’s Day to all children, and reaffirm that we will continue working for a future where they grow up in safety, their rights are protected, they enjoy equal opportunities and are able to achieve their dreams.”
