According to Politis, decisions taken by the Paphos Municipal Council have not been formally submitted to the competent authorities, leaving the matter suspended for the time being.

The newspaper reported that no new council meeting has been held since the decision to change the street’s name was approved, and that no alternative name has yet been officially proposed. It added that a number of suggestions have been discussed informally outside the institutional process.

The report also stated that the Greek Cypriot Interior Ministry was approached for information regarding the procedure that should be followed, but no response has yet been received.

According to the newspaper, progress on the issue is expected to depend on further action by the Paphos Municipality regarding the legislation governing street names.
