Erhürman: Turkish Cypriot People Want Equality and a Solution
President Tufan Erhürman has said that the Turkish Cypriot people share a common vision centred on equality, a solution to the Cyprus issue and greater engagement with the world.
In a social media post, Erhürman said: “This people do not want to be isolated from the world; they want to engage with the world. This people want equality. This people want a solution, not problems.”
He said society wants its children to enjoy the same rights and opportunities as children in developed countries, adding that the country possesses the qualified human resources needed to achieve those goals.
Erhürman argued that these objectives represent a shared vision embraced by people from a wide range of political backgrounds.
“The vision is clear. The path is clear. Where are we on that path? Neither at the beginning nor at the end,” he said.
He stressed the importance of continuing to work without being distracted by the pressures of daily life, sterile political disputes, personal ambitions or populism.
Erhürman added that they would continue moving forward without paying attention to approaches that disregard the common vision shared by the public.
Concluding his remarks, he said they would remain committed to the goals set by the people and continue working with seriousness, patience, composure and determination, without being drawn into provocations or unnecessary disputes and while remaining focused on realities.
