Consumer prices rose 1.71 percent in May from the previous month, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

The monthly increase marked a slowdown from April, when consumer prices had risen by more than 4 percent amid pressure from energy and transport costs linked to regional tensions.

Annual inflation stood at 32.61 percent in May, compared with 32.37 percent in April.

The May data showed that the pace of monthly price increases eased after the sharp rise recorded a month earlier, though annual inflation remained above 30 percent.

Producer prices also increased in May, with the domestic producer price index rising 2.75 percent month-on-month and 28.93 percent annually.
