Dânâ Holds Talks in London, Brussels and Paris on Cyprus Issue
Presidential Undersecretary Mehmet Dânâ held a series of contacts in London, Brussels and Paris, discussing the Cyprus issue, confidence-building measures and a range of bilateral and EU-related matters.
According to the statement, Dânâ met officials from the foreign ministries of the United Kingdom and France, including European directors, as well as senior representatives from the European Commission in Brussels. These included officials from the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO), Directorate-General for Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME) and Directorate-General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), along with advisers and cabinet members of European Commissioners and members of the European Parliament. He also held meetings with think tank representatives and conducted talks at the UK Parliament.
Discussions covered the Cyprus issue, confidence-building measures, the isolation of Turkish Cypriots, the Greek Cypriot application to join the Schengen Area, exports of halloumi to the European Union, the registration process for red soil potatoes and the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease on the island.
Dânâ also held consultations with Turkish ambassadors and permanent representatives in all three capitals.
He was accompanied during the visits by Seniha Birand Çınar, Coordinator for Confidence-Building Measures and Technical Committees.
