Three More Arrested In Fake Driving Licence Probe, Total Detentions Rise To 17
Police have announced the arrest of three more suspects in an ongoing investigation into the alleged use of forged foreign driving licences to fraudulently obtain TRNC driving licences.
According to a statement issued by the Police Press Office, the case involves the preparation and circulation of fake driving licences, fraudulent registration and obtaining money by deception.
The investigation found that between October 2025 and April 2026, forged foreign driving licences were arranged for foreign nationals residing in Kyrenia who did not possess valid driving licences. The documents were allegedly created to enable the individuals to obtain TRNC driving licences.
Police said the forged licences were brought into the TRNC and submitted to a driving school operating in Kyrenia, where they were put into circulation and subsequently used to convert them into TRNC driving licences. Authorities allege that fraudulent registrations were carried out and money was obtained through the scheme.
Fourteen suspects had previously been arrested as part of the investigation. Following further inquiries, police identified three additional individuals allegedly linked to the case.
The three suspects, identified by their initials as M.J.U. (34), S.A.S. (21) and S.A. (26), were arrested on June 9, 2026.
The total number of people arrested in connection with the investigation has now risen to 17.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
