Erdoğan: Israel-Linked Moves In Cyprus Would Face Firm Response
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has warned that Turkey would deliver a “very clear and very harsh response” to any attempt to target the rights of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean, amid rising tensions in the region.
Speaking at his party’s parliamentary group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, Erdoğan said developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Cyprus are being closely monitored by Ankara.
He argued that efforts are under way to “ignite a new source of turmoil” in the Eastern Mediterranean, claiming that certain actors with ambitions beyond their capacity are aligning themselves with what he described as Israeli-linked regional strategies.
Erdoğan urged regional actors not to pursue what he called “adventurism” or to align with destabilising agendas, warning that such steps would be dangerous for regional stability.
He stressed that any move against the rights and interests of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot people in the Eastern Mediterranean would trigger a strong and decisive response from Ankara.
