TDP Sets Local Election Strategy, Authorizes Leader Çeler For Possible Alliances
The Communal Democracy Party (TDP) Party Council has set its roadmap for the upcoming local elections.
The council adopted the principle of preserving municipalities currently governed by the Communal Democracy Party and the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), while also granting full authority to party leader Zeki Çeler to evaluate possible cooperation and joint candidacy models in other regions.
In a statement by TDP Secretary General Redif Ekinci, it was noted that the Party Council prioritizes maintaining the “successful governance model” implemented by TDP and CTP in local administrations.
Ekinci stated that the decision took into account ongoing consultations between the two parties, the positive political climate created through cooperation during the presidential election process, and the resulting atmosphere of social solidarity.
The statement emphasized that the cooperation established during the presidential election created a positive public environment and added momentum to democratic engagement, underlining that collaboration among progressive and reform-oriented forces has received strong social support.
Within this framework, the party will focus on preserving municipalities under its control, including the Nicosia Turkish Municipality, as well as those governed by the CTP.
It was also stated that Zeki Çeler has been granted full authority to engage with district organizations in order to evaluate potential cooperation scenarios, joint candidate models, and broader electoral strategies in other municipalities.
