Two-Community Panel On “Swiss Model” To Be Held In Buffer Zone In Nicosia
A bicommunal panel on the Swiss federal model will be held in the buffer zone of Nicosia on June 24, focusing on Switzerland’s experience in federal governance and the management of diversity.
The event, titled “Lessons From The Swiss Model – Managing Diversity In A Federal System,” is jointly organized by the United Cyprus – Bi-communal Peace Initiative and the Embassy of Switzerland.
According to a statement by the initiative, the panel will take place on Wednesday at 18:30 at the Goethe-Institut and will be open to the public.
The main speaker will be Swiss Ambassador to the South Cyprus Christoph Burgener, who will present the key features of the Swiss model to participants. He will be followed by assessments from Republican Turkish Party (CTP) MP Asım Akansoy and Greek Cypriot politician Elias Demetriou.
The event will conclude with a Q&A session and open discussion. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in Turkish, Greek, and English.
