Papadopulos: Antonio Guterres Has A Plan To Break The Deadlock On The Cyprus Issue
Viktoras Papadopoulos, Director of the Press Office at the Presidential Palace of the Greek Cypriot administration, has claimed that United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has a plan to overcome the deadlock in the Cyprus issue, adding that the coming weeks will be decisive for the course of the process.
According to the Alphanews news website, Papadopoulos said during a public event today that Guterres has a plan aimed at breaking the stalemate in the Cyprus talks, and that the next weeks will be critical in determining developments.
He further stated that negotiations are continuing at various levels in coordination with both the United Nations and the European Union, claiming that the EU is also involved in assisting the Secretary-General.
“Now is the time for unity, the time for unity of both the people and the leadership,” he said.
Papadopoulos also claimed that there is an intensified effort both to secure Turkey’s benefit and incentive to agree to resume negotiations from where they left off, and to ensure that the European Union is involved in the process so that any settlement is aligned with EU principles.
