Ercan Airport Records More Than 8% Growth in Passenger and Aircraft Traffic in First Half of 2026
Ercan Airport continued its steady growth in the first six months of 2026, recording increases of more than 8% in both passenger numbers and aircraft movements compared with the same period last year.
According to a statement from T&T Airport Management, a total of 2,804,138 passengers used Ercan Airport between Jan. 1 and June 30, 2026, while 18,793 aircraft landed and departed during the same period.
Compared with the first half of 2025, passenger traffic increased by 8.24%, while aircraft movements rose by 8.40%. The figures indicate that Ercan Airport continues to meet growing passenger demand and strengthen its position as one of the region's key air transport hubs.
In the first six months of 2025, the airport handled 2,590,576 passengers, compared with 2,804,138 during the same period this year.
Aircraft movements also increased, rising from 17,336 in the first half of 2025 to 18,793 in the first six months of 2026.
May and June Recorded the Highest Traffic Levels
The busiest month for passenger traffic during the first half of 2025 was June, when 475,367 passengers passed through the airport. In 2026, however, May became the busiest month, with Ercan handling 514,151 passengers.
Aircraft traffic also peaked in May in both years. The airport recorded 3,194 aircraft movements in May 2025, rising to 3,422 in May 2026.
T&T Airport Management General Manager M. Serhat Özçelik said the operator remains committed to providing passengers with a safe, fast and comfortable travel experience while continuously improving operational efficiency and service quality.
Highlighting the airport's focus on passenger satisfaction, Özçelik said Ercan continues to successfully manage increasing air traffic.
"We will continue investing in further improving service quality, expanding operational capacity and strengthening Northern Cyprus' strategic position in international air transport," he said.
