KTAMS: Family of Four Needs TL 234,462 a Month to Avoid Poverty
The Cyprus Turkish Civil Servants' Trade Union (KTAMS) has announced that the poverty threshold for a family of four reached TL 234,462 at the end of June, while the monthly hunger threshold rose to TL 43,469.
KTAMS President Güven Bengihan unveiled the union's June 2026 Hunger and Poverty Report, which is based on the nutritional basket determined by the Department of Inpatient Health Services under the Ministry of Health and average price data provided by the Statistical Institute.
According to the report, a family of four required TL 43,469 per month as of June 30, 2026, to maintain a healthy and balanced diet. The overall poverty threshold was calculated at TL 234,462.
The report estimates the monthly minimum food expenditure needed for healthy nutrition at TL 11,233.50 for an adult woman, TL 11,756.40 for an adult man, TL 12,417 for a child aged 15 to 19, and TL 8,062.50 for a child aged 4 to 6.
