Simon Aykut Serving Sentence in Israeli Prison
Israeli businessman Simon Aykut, who was convicted in Cyprus over the alleged unlawful use of former Greek Cypriot properties in the TRNC, is continuing to serve his prison sentence in Israel, according to Greek Cypriot media reports.
According to Alithia newspaper, the Greek Cypriot Ministry of Justice requested information from the Israeli authorities and was informed that Aykut, an Israeli national, remains in custody in an Israeli prison serving the sentence imposed by a Greek Cypriot court in 2025.
The report noted that speculation had emerged suggesting Aykut would be released if transferred to Israel. However, citing the latest information received by the ministry, the newspaper said those claims were unfounded and that he continues to serve his sentence there.
