KAYAD: Number Of Child Victims In Lapta Sexual Abuse Case Rises To Seven

According to the organisation, one of the girls contacted KAYAD while the other filed a complaint directly with the police after the case received media attention.

The suspect appeared before court on Friday, where a judge ordered that he remain in custody for a further three days while the investigation continues.

KAYAD reiterated its appeal to any other potential victims, urging them to seek support by contacting the organisation on +90 533 824 14 14.

The organisation said it can provide legal assistance and psychosocial support to survivors of sexual violence and accompany them throughout the complaint process.

"Speaking out is an act of courage. Silence protects perpetrators. Solidarity is the strongest beginning of justice," the organisation said.

KAYAD stressed that survivors coming forward not only helps them pursue justice but can also encourage other victims to report abuse and help prevent further offences. It emphasised that no victim is alone.

The organisation had previously announced that, following allegations by two sisters that they had been sexually abused by their mother's partner, three additional individuals had filed complaints against the same suspect. With the latest two reports, the number of alleged child victims has now risen to seven.

As part of its response, KAYAD recently launched the "I Believe You" campaign, aimed at encouraging potential victims to come forward and ensuring they have access to support services and protection.
