Two Seriously Injured After Car Overturns On Kyrenia–Degirmenlik Highway
Two people were seriously injured after a car left the road, struck rocks and overturned on the Kyrenia–Degirmenlik Highway in the early hours of Monday.
According to the Police Press Office, the accident occurred at around 4.30am on 13 July 2026 between the fifth and sixth kilometres of the highway.
Police said 20-year-old Çetin Yaramış was driving vehicle HS 054 towards Degirmenlik when he lost control while negotiating a right-hand bend.
The vehicle veered off the left side of the road, collided with rocks and overturned before coming to rest on its wheels.
The driver, Çetin Yaramış, and passengers Samet Çelik, 19, and Furkan Uzun, 20, were taken to Dr Burhan Nalbantoğlu State Hospital in Nicosia for treatment.
Following medical examinations, Yaramış and Uzun were admitted to hospital under observation with serious injuries, while Çelik was treated and later discharged.
Police said an investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing.
