Outdoor Work in Direct Sun Banned Between Noon and 4pm Until August 1
Outdoor work under direct sunlight will be prohibited between 12pm and 4pm from July 22 to August 1, following a decision by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security based on high-temperature forecasts issued by the Meteorological Department.
The decision, published in the Official Gazette, bans work in direct sunlight between 12pm and 4pm from July 22 through August 1, inclusive, taking into account the risks posed by extreme heat under occupational health and safety regulations.
The ministry said the measure was adopted under Article 36 of the Labour Law (22/1992) to protect the health of workers employed outdoors in direct sunlight.
The notice also states that employers in the agriculture and construction sectors operating outside residential areas may bring forward starting times. Under the revised schedule, the transportation of aggregates, ready-mix concrete, other construction materials and heavy machinery to construction sites will also be permitted during the earlier working hours.
