Guterres Concludes Cyprus Visit: Cypriots Want Peace and Cooperation
UN Secretary-General António Guterres said Cypriots want a future shaped by cooperation, opportunity and peace, reaffirming the United Nations' commitment to supporting efforts toward a settlement based on dialogue, respect and good faith.
In a social media post after concluding his visit to Cyprus, Guterres said he had listened to many Cypriots during his stay on the island.
"During my visit to Cyprus, I listened to many Cypriots. Their message was clear: they want a future shaped by cooperation, opportunity and peace," he wrote.
Guterres also reiterated the UN's commitment to supporting efforts to resolve the Cyprus issue.
"The United Nations remains fully committed to supporting the process towards a solution to the Cyprus issue, based on dialogue, respect and good faith," he said.
