As part of his contacts in Kyrenia district, Üstel visited the villages of Kozanköy, Alemdağ, Çamlıbel, Tepebaşı and Akdeniz, meeting with residents.

Speaking about the government’s work and the upcoming election, Üstel said UBP was continuing on its path with unity and solidarity and would maintain its responsibility in government with the support of the public.

Expressing his election target clearly, Üstel said: “I believe the National Unity Party will come out of the ballot box by a wide margin. I trust our MPs and our people. As the government, we will continue to serve our people.”

“The Upcoming Election Will Showcase the TMT Spirit Once Again”

Referring to the spirit of the Turkish Resistance Organisation (TMT), which played an important role in the Turkish Cypriot community’s struggle for existence and freedom, Üstel stressed the importance of the upcoming election.

“Our concern is our people, and our cause is the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The upcoming election will be one in which the TMT spirit will be demonstrated once again,” Üstel said, stressing that UBP would continue to pursue a state- and people-centred political approach.

Üstel said UBP’s national political line, understanding of statehood and commitment to public service, which it had carried from the past to the present, would remain its main source of strength in the election.

“We Have Nothing to Account For”

Responding to criticism of the government and what he described as attempts to shape public perceptions, Üstel said UBP governments had nothing to account for to the public.

“We have nothing to account for,” Üstel said, pointing to the work carried out by UBP governments and stressing that the party would continue its approach to public service.

“There is no such thing. We will continue to serve our people in line with the principles of the National Unity Party,” Üstel said.

“Municipal Reform Is Now Delivering Results”

Üstel also addressed the Municipal Reform, one of the major reforms implemented by UBP governments, saying it had strengthened the financial structure of local administrations.

He said additional resources had been provided to municipalities under financial cooperation protocols signed with the Republic of Turkey, adding that steps had been taken to strengthen their finances and enable them to provide better services.

Üstel said those who had opposed the reform in the past were now recognising its importance.

“You have to call good good and right right. If there are shortcomings, we will not hesitate to say so,” he said.

“We Will Continue Our March Towards Government Together With Our People”

Üstel said UBP was entering the election process with unity and solidarity, stressing that he trusted the party organisation, MPs and the public.

“I believe the National Unity Party will come out of the ballot box by a wide margin,” Üstel said, reiterating his election target.

“We will continue to serve our people as the government,” he said, adding that UBP would continue to represent stability, public service and a strong state after the election.
