Hasipoğlu: Territory and Guarantees are UBP’s Red Lines
Minister of Labour and Social Security Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu said territory and guarantees were UBP’s red lines, stressing that the federal model would not produce results under the current UN parameters.
Hasipoğlu said that if the Greek Cypriot side returned to the negotiating table, the Guterres Framework would be on the table from where talks were left off at Crans-Montana. He claimed that the Greek Cypriot side had no intention of sharing the administration and wealth of the island with Turkish Cypriots.
Stating that the National Unity Party’s (UBP) position on territory and guarantees was clear, Hasipoğlu said, “We will not give up a single inch of territory,” adding that they opposed bringing Güzelyurt, villages in the Karpaz, border villages in the Mesaoria and Varosha back to the negotiating table.
Hasipoğlu stressed that Turkey’s guarantees and the issue of territory were UBP’s red lines, saying, “Federation is over for us. They must recognise our acquired sovereignty, which is our right.”
