Tourism Sector To Receive TL 36 Million In Grants

According to information from the ministry, a grant programme prepared to support tourist accommodation facilities has been approved by the Council of Ministers.

The grant programme, aimed at strengthening the sustainability of the tourism sector, supporting accommodation facilities and maintaining service quality in tourism, will cover tourist accommodation facilities without gaming halls. A total of TL 36 million will be allocated to the sector under the programme.

Under the programme, tourist accommodation facilities will be eligible for support if they obtained their 2025 and/or 2026 Operating and Classification Certificates from the ministry before October 1, 2026, submitted their 2026 overnight stay and guest numbers to the Tourism Planning Department, and do not have a gaming hall on their premises.

The grant programme aims to support accommodation facilities operating in the tourism sector that do not benefit from gaming revenues, contribute to the sustainability of businesses and strengthen economic activity in the tourism sector.

Ataoğlu: “We Will Continue Supporting Every Part Of The Tourism Sector”

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu said the Council of Ministers’ decision was particularly important for accommodation businesses without gaming revenues.

Emphasising that tourism was not limited to large-scale facilities, Ataoğlu said:

“We consider the country’s tourism sector as a whole. In addition to hotels, our guesthouses, tourist residences and traditional houses are also important parts of our tourism sector. We particularly value supporting facilities that do not have gaming halls and whose activities are based directly on accommodation and tourism services.

“Our aim is to contribute to the survival of these businesses, encourage tourism activities to spread to different parts of the country, and make small-scale businesses a stronger part of the tourism economy.”

Emphasising that tourism was one of the locomotive sectors of the TRNC economy, Ataoğlu said the ministry was closely monitoring the needs of the sector and would continue providing support to ensure that tourism developed through a sustainable economic structure extending across the country rather than being concentrated in specific areas or large facilities.
