CTP: We Are Here, United And Determined

The Republican Turkish Party (CTP) said the extraordinary session of the Republic’s Assembly scheduled to discuss “Public Security” could not be held because government MPs did not attend the plenary, declaring, “We are here, we are united and we are determined. This country will be governed in security.”

The CTP attended today’s extraordinary session of the Republic’s Assembly, which had been called with “Public Security” on its agenda. CTP MPs, along with independent MPs Jale Refik Rogers and Ayşegül Baybars, were present at the plenary session convened to discuss growing security concerns and problems related to public security.

The extraordinary session could not be held due to a lack of quorum after MPs from the National Unity Party (UBP), YDP and DP failed to attend.

CTP Group Deputy Leader Erkut Şahali took the floor and said, “We criticise and condemn the government parties for preventing the session from taking place by withholding the quorum for this call to discuss public security. Public security is not an issue that anyone should turn into election material or even attempt to portray as such.”
