Miracle IVF Centre: BBC Report Does Not Fully, Accurately Or Fairly Reflect The Facts

Miracle IVF Centre said a BBC report focusing on Dr. Firdevs Uğuz Tip and the centre did not fully, accurately or fairly reflect the facts, describing the report as incomplete, one-sided and misleading. The centre said official letters from the Ministry of Health and the findings of inspections had been overlooked, while allegations dating from before 2019 could not legally or chronologically be attributed to the centre.

Miracle IVF Centre: BBC Report Does Not Fully, Accurately Or Fairly Reflect The Facts

In a written statement, Miracle IVF Centre said freedom of the press and the public interest could not justify publishing allegations before they had been substantiated or disregarding official documents.

The BBC report claimed that at least 30 children, most of them reportedly British, may have been born using sperm or egg donors different from those selected by their families. It further alleged that 15 of the cases were linked to procedures carried out at Doğuş IVF Centre and included the name of Dr. Firdevs Uğuz Tip.

Miracle IVF Centre said that no concrete document, patient-specific record or valid patient authorisation demonstrating personal or institutional responsibility had been provided to Dr. Tip or the centre in relation to the allegations raised by the BBC.

The statement said official state records, the Ministry of Health’s inspection findings and the detailed responses submitted to the BBC had not been properly conveyed to the public. It also said Dr. Tip’s comprehensive and documented responses had been reduced to a brief denial in the report.

“DOĞUŞ IVF CENTRE AND MIRACLE IVF CENTRE ARE NOT THE SAME LEGAL OR INSTITUTIONAL ENTITY”

Referring to an official letter issued by the Ministry of Health on July 23, 2026, the statement stressed that Doğuş IVF Centre and Miracle IVF Centre were not the same legal or institutional entity.

According to the official letter, Dr. Firdevs Uğuz Tip worked at Doğuş IVF Centre between 2009 and 2015 solely as a specialist in obstetrics and gynaecology and did not hold the position of responsible physician during that period.

The statement also said it had been confirmed that Dr. Tip had not been registered as a responsible physician at any centre before 2019.

Miracle IVF Centre was licensed and began operating on April 18, 2019, while Dr. Tip assumed the role of responsible physician on the same date, according to the statement.

The centre therefore argued that attributing allegations concerning the 2011–2015 period to Miracle IVF Centre was inconsistent with both the chronology and the legal status of the centre.

“THE FINDINGS OF THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH INSPECTION WERE OVERLOOKED”

The centre said the outcome of an inspection conducted by the Ministry of Health following the BBC reports had also been overlooked.

“We do not attach a meaning to this official inspection finding beyond its scope. However, we also do not accept that the official finding that no deficiency or breach of legislation was identified in the files examined should be withheld from the public or treated as insignificant by the BBC and media organisations citing it,” the statement said.

Miracle IVF Centre said there had been no official decision or finalised finding communicated to the centre establishing that Dr. Tip or the centre had breached any law or regulation in their activities after April 18, 2019.

The statement also criticised the BBC for not providing the file of any patient it claimed had received treatment at Miracle IVF Centre and was connected to the allegations. It said valid patient consent and concrete documentation had repeatedly been requested from the BBC during the process.

Miracle IVF Centre stated that since obtaining its licence and beginning operations on April 18, 2019, it had operated in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the TRNC, Ministry of Health regulations, professional and ethical standards and patients’ rights.

“Within the framework of the relevant legislation and the centre’s practices, sperm samples are obtained from internationally accredited sperm banks,” the statement said, adding that egg donors were selected by the centre in accordance with the applicable legal regulations.

Miracle IVF Centre called on the BBC and other media organisations that had published the report to provide the documents and patient consents supporting the allegations, clearly report the Ministry of Health’s official letters dated July 23 and August 14, 2026, and refrain from attributing responsibility for events predating 2019 to Miracle IVF Centre.

The centre said it reserved the right to pursue all necessary legal and administrative avenues to protect the personal rights and professional and commercial reputation of the institution and Dr. Firdevs Uğuz Tip, citing the presentation of unverified allegations as established facts, the attribution of pre-2019 events to Miracle IVF Centre and the disregard of official documents.
