Erdoğan: “Terror-Free Turkey” Process Gains Significant Strength
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said the “Terror-Free Turkey” process had renewed confidence and gained significant momentum following a parliamentary vote backed by 467 MPs, calling on everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to contribute to the process.
Speaking after a Cabinet meeting at the Presidential Complex in Ahlat, Erdoğan said foreign policy, trade, security and the “Terror-Free Turkey” process were among the key issues discussed.
He said the government was working to keep Turkey on a path of development and prosperity despite conflicts in the region and their impact on the economy.
“We Are Working to Manage This Difficult Period Successfully”
Erdoğan said the government was focused on keeping the economy running, protecting jobs and livelihoods, and minimising the impact of fluctuations in commodity prices.
He added that Turkey would continue to take advantage of opportunities emerging particularly in the defence industry and international investment.
Erdoğan said the shock caused by tensions between Iran and the United States would gradually subside, adding that Turkey was on the right track and would achieve its goals.
“Turkey is safe. The trust of 86 million people is in capable hands and is secure,” he said.
“I Call on Everyone to Be Part of the Solution”
Turning to the “Terror-Free Turkey” process, Erdoğan called on everyone, regardless of political affiliation, to contribute to the effort.
He said Turkey must be freed from terrorism, adding that ending terrorism would fulfil the country’s responsibility towards its fallen soldiers and veterans while strengthening social solidarity.
Erdoğan urged everyone to support the process to prevent further suffering and called in particular on civil society organisations and community leaders in the region to make greater contributions.
He said those who contributed to the process would play a role in reshaping history, while those who sought to undermine or provoke the process would be held accountable by history.
Erdoğan also called on politicians and political parties to carefully assess the will expressed in Parliament through the 467 votes in favour.
“Our Goal Is Justice, Security and Prosperity”
Erdoğan stressed that Turkey had no objective other than peace, justice, stability and security across the region.
“Our aim is for an atmosphere of peace to prevail around us. Our goal is to establish justice, security and prosperity in every corner of our region,” he said.
Erdoğan said the region was in urgent need of peace and that Turkey would continue working for peace and solidarity across a wide geography, including Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, the Gulf, Africa, the Balkans and the Caucasus.
He said Turkey would continue its efforts wherever it could reach until this struggle was crowned with success.
